Freeman's Mind!

My own inner monologue is never this interesting -- or this funny. Not safe for work or chilluns.

It's only funny if you started in 1981 or earlier.

A Special Place in Hell...

3 March 2011-

This update comes more than a little late, so I'll have to rely on memory for some of this, but it's been a busy month.

Our investigations (real investigations this time, with witnesses and questions and everything!) revealed a whole series of clues, as well as some disturbing facts about the willingness of certain party members (cou-Craig-gh!) to seduce recently widowed women.

It turns out that the victim of the shooting last week was trying to give evidence on a drug cartel, as we had expected. It also turns out that this cartel had been getting much more violent lately, and had been moving against other cartels more openly. Many of the locals knew where to find the local cartel leader, and some had even worked for him. With the right questions, we found out that there had been some new construction in the local leader's compound, and some of the local workers had never returned. There were also rumors that an unusual number of people had disappeared from many other walks of life- most people were understandably scared. Craig, as our face-man, presented several of us as an "A-Team"-like group that traveled around helping people and righting wrongs. That said, his attempted seduction of the widows should probably have him hoping never to die, in case Shepherd Book is right.

We acquired target certainty through the "aggressive" questioning (in the same sense that water-boarding is "aggressive") of a local middle-man for the drug cartel. Between Kevin's sword at his throat, Brian's bugs crawling all over him, and Bill's ability to telekinetically stop his heart in his chest, the poor guy spilled his guts in seconds, and confirmed everything we had heard about our target: the drug lord's compound.

Our next step was more conventional- at least for us. Bill flew over the compound and dropped off a few of us, while Ghost Wolf ran through the ground and Craig went over the wall. Jeff's mage sent a wizard eye into the compound, going from the large dog kennels (here meaning kennels for large dogs) to a barracks and to the main mansion, where he discovered people on the ground floor playing billiards and generally relaxing. He teleported in, and tried to grab a large hunting horn from one of the men, but the man resisted his Stun spell and prepared a counter-attack. Jeff, who could tell from the man's aura that he was quite powerful, teleported back out, but the man blew the horn.

Next session we anticipate a serious battle, as we slaughter the normals and confront the enemy supers.
