A Pirate's Life for Me

5 October 2009-

As we suspected, the Veil of Tears is a pirate vessel, at least when the opportunity arises- which it did, although not as expected. After several days in transit, the alarms went off as we jumped a pair of Brakiri freighters, one of which turned out to be a Q-Ship (a military ship disguised as a civilian freighter), which pounded our ship harder than our pirate buddies appeared to have expected. Our PCs briefly considered abandoning the pirates to their fate, but then decided that the Brakiri would probably only use a pirate shuttle as additional target practice, so we stayed and lent a hand in the engine room, instead. Luckily, we were able to help out, and after the fight the crew seemed to warm to us a little.

Once we jumped into real space and docked with the Freedom, things improved a bit. We discovered a Narn barkeep who knew of a Drazi shuttle which makes regular supply runs to the prison asteroid, and also discovered that there's a Centauri on board who's actually been to the place and lived to tell the tale (we hope). We're off to see the Centauri, then hopefully acquire some appropriate space suits, stow away in the freight being loaded on the Drazi shuttle, and then hijack said shuttle en route to the prison. What could possibly go wrong?
