The Eagle Has Landed

2 July 2009-

Well, we're finally back in the saddle again, after our usual summer hiatus- brought on by everything from finals week and its myriad accompanying tasks (for those of us who are teachers and/or parents) to summer vacations (mea culpa). We'll see how long it lasts, but it looks fairly promising for the upcoming few weeks, at least.

We were joined this week by Bill (in person, as he was visiting family nearby), and even enjoyed a brief visit by Dave and his family (no, really!), although he couldn't stay to game.

Anyway, we picked up more or less where we had left off in early May- on a rescue mission of sorts, to find out what happened to a group of scientists who went missing on a distant planet. This week saw our relatively uneventful hyperspace travel (aside from Craig's PC hitting on everything that moves) ended by our arrival in-system and our eventual planetfall on the planet where the missing scientists were investigating an ancient ruin. We scouted their camp and found it looted, with no trace of combat- but no scientists, either. We did find some alien tracks that suggest some sort of raid, but we're not sure yet by whom. The local fauna attacked Craig, as well- in the form of a dacschund-sized insect grabbing his foot. Luckily, Craig was unharmed, and Jeff got in a little target practice.
